Bio
Rob Bolick, Josh Martin and Kevin Champney live in Eastern Mass and Southern Vermont - betwixt the Connecticut River and the foothills of the Berkshires and Green Mountains. They first met in 1992 while at The University of Massachusetts and had an immediate connection from their shared love of all things music. They spent several years in the ‘90s in two popular bands in the Amherst area: Cottonmouth and The Crawdads, not getting rich, but earning plenty of free beer and providing the soundscape for many a house party. After many years apart in various musical endeavors playing a variety of instruments, they have reunited as a trio (with occasional band additions) armed with a trove of their own songs. Playing a wide variety of classic rock, jam and Americana covers mixed with original music, their music taps into the long tradition of American music through the lenses of the rock, folk and singer-songwriter booms of the 60s and 70s with doses of the British invasion mixed in for good measure. With a heavy emphasis on song craft, and supporting each other vocally they have found their own unique sound together.
Joshua Martin is stuck here, in time. He grew up on the north shore of Boston in (all together now) Peabody. Sister city to Chicopee! (Or it should be anyway). He has forged his own path through the world and is grateful for all the great people he’s known and knows. Now he’s going to play music again with his old friend and true brother. His songwriting owes a debt to the music of the Beatles, early Rock & Roll and his own singular craftsmanship.
Kevin Champney grew up in Massachusetts and after a stint in the Pioneer Valley spent twelve years in Maine north of Bangor, and towards MDI before moving to Southern Vermont. The first few years in Maine working in the Sound Preservation Lab at the Maine Folklife Center focusing on traditional unaccompanied ballads of Maine and the Maritimes. He has since worked in schools as a history and writing teacher, librarian and IT director, all the while writing songs and plugging away on guitar, bass, piano, drums, and mandolin. His music is heavily influenced by traditional American ballads, Bob Dylan, Robert Hunter & Jerry Garcia, Townes Van Zandt and Mick and Keef among many others.
Rob Bolick has returned literally from the desert, After a long stint in Las Vegas he has come back to New England to join his long time musical compatriots in this new endeavor. Rob lives in Eastern Massachusetts, but makes his way out to Southern Vermont to create music.
